Suggestions: Wear a shirt that says, "I'm not ashamed of Jesus" or a shirt with a Bible verse on it; bring you Bible to work and put it on your desk if you can; or reach out to one person and tell them that you are a follower of Jesus and ask if you can pray for them or help them; or post something on social media like "We're here. We're not ashamed. We love Jesus and we love you."

AREA OF IMPACT: Prayer-National Day of Prayer

Date:  May 1, 2025
Day:  Thursday

Our Mission

The National Day of Prayer exists to mobilize unified public prayer for America.

The First Thursday of May

The National Day of Prayer is an annual observance held on the first Thursday of May, inviting people of all faiths to pray for the nation. It was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of the United States Congress and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Our Task Force is a privately funded organization whose purpose is to encourage participation on the National Day of Prayer. It exists to communicate with every individual the need for personal repentance and prayer, to create appropriate materials, and to mobilize the Christian community to intercede for America’s leaders and its families. The Task Force represents a Judeo-Christian expression of the national observance, based on our understanding that this country was birthed in prayer and in reverence for the God of the Bible.

HALF-MILLION MOBILIZATION: Prayer Journal 2025

Call to Prayer

Easter to Pentecost

Thank you for joining the Half-Million Mobilization’s fifty-day journey of prayer from Easter to Pentecost. God has done his deepest works in my life through prolonged times of prayer.

Starting Easter through Pentecost 2024, Blessing Our Community will be the focus of our prayers. The emphasis for 2024 is for local churches to engage with people in their immediate communities in order to serve them and show them the hope of Christ for their lives. Blessing our community is where it starts. We begin by making friends, building relationships, and attending to those divine appointments the Lord sets up for us when we serve.

This prayer journal contains weekly themes related to the heart cry of blessing our community. Each daily devotional will focus on a scripture related to this idea. We will pray for The Cycle of Resurgence: Blessing Our Community.

We encourage you to join in! Read and pray daily following this Prayer Journal.

Director of Strategy, USA/Canada Region
Church of the Nazarene
